Which type of swimming pool would suit my garden best?

Which type of swimming pool would suit my garden best?

If you’re lucky enough to be in the process of buying a swimming pool, you need to get it right the first time. After all, pools are luxury investments that will bring a lot of enjoyment for many years – so it’s worth putting some thought into exactly what you’re trying to get from a pool, and which style would suit your garden the best.

Clean and contemporary

If your garden takes the minimalist approach, boasting clean lines, neat borders and well-chosen plants, then you need a pool that fits with this sleek, contemporary look. Geometric designs introduce lots of interesting yet simple shapes into your space that draw the eye and amplify the modern look. A smaller plunge pool or hot tub can easily be paired with the main pool, too, to really help create the spa look.

Rocky and wild

Prim and perfect might not be your style. For many, the untamed look has a wild beauty of its own, with rockeries, wildflowers and living walls all contributing to this style. Freeform pools are therefore the ideal choice for those who favour a more fluid, natural look, and the flowing, often bespoke lines of this pool choice can create an almost lagoon-like appearance. Depending on what greenery and hardscaping you pair it with, this can conjure an exotic or a rustically wild garden atmosphere.

Cottage chic

Homes in rural settings often enjoy stunning natural backdrops – the perfect views to soak up from a swimming pool. Often, your garden design may be in keeping with these countryside surroundings, with lots of trees, hedges and blooming plants, and a swimming pool needs to complement this cosy, cottage feel without being jarring. Again, freeform styles can really suit this mood, though geometric will also work if coupled with rustic stone borders to soften the edges.

Small but mighty

Having a small garden doesn’t mean you can’t benefit from your own slice of luxury. Even the smallest space can be turned into a sanctuary with smart design. For example, hot tubs and plunge pools are compact options that can fit into any garden, and some high planters or green walls can give you that extra bit of privacy. What about if your garden is very narrow? Lane or lap pools will be perfect, also enabling you to get your daily exercise in.

A grand statement

If you like to make a bold, elegant statement with your garden design, make sure to get a swimming pool that can match up. And if you’ve got plenty of room to spare, then paving, plants, green walls and seating areas can all work together to create an impactful space that can be enjoyed by friends and family alike.

Gardenscapes have just finished a 5 month project rebuilding part of the garden and replacing the drive. The hard and soft landscape works were comple...ted to a very high standard. Neal and Ainsley were a pleasure to work with and we would be happy to recommend Gardenscapes.

Gardenscapes installed steel edging to all the lawns in our garden. The work was carried out precisely as promised, to the highest standard and looks...great. The best aspect was the friendly service that we received - it was a pleasure to have Neal and Ainsley on site and nothing was too much trouble. I have no hesitation in recommending them for any garden project.

Having sourced several quotes for a complete garden overhaul, we commissioned Gardenscapes upon meeting Neal and Ainsley - who listened to our brief,...as well as advised appropriately. They reviewed our requirements and discussed what would work best based on their experience and expertise. This is something we wanted in a landscape specialist: rather than just doing what the client wants. We have a mossy and boggy area of the garden thanks to the constant shade of a huge oak and we welcomed their gentle and expert advice on what would - and wouldn't - work in this section of the garden. The works consisted of removing existing paving and decking, garden levelling, providing astroturf samples at different price points as well as paving options and subsequent installations as well as a new tiered level. The Gardenscapes team were consultative throughout and extremely polite, respectful and tidy. they turned up early, worked hard all day and their communication from start to finish was superb and professional. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. We are thoroughly pleased with their work, value for money, and results.

In 2016 Neal’s Team installed a shed in out garden. The location beside the house was unstable so the shed was placed on top of a platform creat...ed by Neal and his team. In 2018 the team built a sun deck area in a different part of the garden. This too has successful.

Where do I begin? Neal was the only guy to actually ask me what I wanted in my garden rather than telling me what I should have. That greatly impresse...d me and I was not disappointed in his work or his workforce. He completely relandscaped my back garden including a pond. Highly recommend this company.
